1. Ask your doctor and nurses how long someone with your condition is typically in the hospital.

2. Ask staff to set a goal for the date and time of day you are expected to be discharged.

3. Help staff begin arranging your ride home on day one of your admission.

4. Be assertive if you note a care provider is not meeting expectations.

5. Tell care providers specifically what would make your care experience exceptional.
