Ask for a printed summary of your appointment.  Ask for detailed instructions to be included in the summary, whether for medication or any other protocol, together with a list of referrals, if any.  Make sure to set up your next appointment if applicable, upon checkout as that could lessen your stress of needing to set up another one later.
