WHAT TO EXPECT:

Don't expect a protracted time period of discussion or examination.  The physician may see you within or in less than the time provided in your appointment.  Its important to make the most of the limited time to gather quality information that will help you make the best treatment decisions.

YOUR ROLE:

Write out all the important questions you wish to ask your physician.  There is no such thing as a stupid question.  Use the time to learn as much as you can about your condition and to discuss issues relation to decisions that YOU ultimately will be making (not the doctor).  Ask permission to record your conversation so that you may refer to it later.  Download and install a recorder app on your smartphone and make sure its charged so you can record the conversation if allowed.
