REFERRAL TO DIAGNOSTICS
Scans, Labs and Tests
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Your physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant may refer you to diagnostics after they have examined and interviewed you. The referral may be to a department within the same hospital or health care organization or it may be to an outside hospital or clinic.

YOUR ROLE:
Before your appointment, already think about what referrals you might need, and list them down. Make sure to bring these up in your conversation with your care provider. If they say they will make the referral, make sure to take note of what kind of diagnostic and to be done in which clinic or hospital. These diagnostics departments may call you but if they don't, make sure to follow up with a phone call or an email. Watch out for messages on your voice mail, text or email for more details.
